back to wher i came from...
promised mum to bring her to eunos for hairdressing. i was kinda worried that we might make a wasteful trip if the shop is not open. when we reached ther at abt 11.30am, the shop is full of 4customers with jus 2hairdessers. so, we left to the market for some early lunch.we passed the chinese medical hall, which i grew up with since my kindergarten days. the auntie and her plump daughter remain. however, the medical hall portrays some emptiness. the loose spaces in the shelves and the quietness inside. mum asked the auntie for remedy, as she complained feeling cold all the time since her discharged. auntie answered her that her body is weak, therefore, need some herbal soup to adjust her 'qi' back.
i asked auntie for doubts that lingered on my mind, resulting me to distrust traditional chinese medicine (TCM).
TCM, those 'por' medicine needs to be consumed long term, which would see the improvements in a person's health. also, after an hour of consumed TCM, she should take her usual medications.
i ordered dried fishball kway diao for mum. seeing her eats. watching her perspire whenever she eats. these are once again captured in my 'hard disk'. and i finished her 4fishballs which she asked me to. i didnt really want it at first bcoz i jus had prata an hour ago. after 2nd tots, afraid that she might gobble everything in her bowl even though she's already full.
back at the salon, i left her there and i headed to optician for new pair of contact lenses. while waiting for mum, i've been walking up and down the shophouses and recalling all the memories i had.
~ the route that i walked from blk 17 to the mrt stn.
~ the 7-eleven when i skipped morning supplementary classes at p5 to purchase sinful ice-cream with best fren, yanqing. once, i spotted mum who's on her way to buy 4D! i freeked out! i hid myself at the pillars outside 7-eleven, passed my conetto to yanqing and dashed across the road. since then, i never sneaked outta school to 7-eleven. :P
~ the 1st time that shan and i met at the econ minimart, realising that we are living soo close. it was beginning for the new year. i was disappointed as i was retained in sec3 with a class of one yr younger new classmates. wasnt at all excited to meet these new frens every other day. till i met shan who was buying new paper. since then, we got close and travelled to school and back home together.
~ the bus-stop which i walked to meet shan during poly days. as not to miss boarding bus15, i would walk a stop ahead and meeting shan, jay-walked the road.
~ the big squared wet market being burned and rebuilt with a new one. the patch is filled with well-kept grass now. remembering the stench from the wet and the rubbish ward.
~ also, my precious gold necklace was picked by a blue shirt, black tights, curly hair auntie. it was a gourd my full-mth gift by my grandmother. but we never told granny abt the missing. i was in my k1 then.
the bookshop, which i always like to see-shop during pri5/6. it's gone. it is now selling cheap clothing. the bakery, which i heard from shan that these 2shops are of the same owner, remains. the indian barber shop, which has bugs bunny painted on it's clear doors, has redone the doors and painted new bugs. the econ minimart by the chinese family remains, however, the signboard has changed to 'i-econ' with new colors. the video shop, which the ppl there are very hao-lian, has closed. eunos mrt stn is undergoing some upgrading; spaces are covered up for lease.
new shops are: massage/reflexology, beauty saloon for facial treatment, optical branch of an established chain group, couple of hair salons.
shan, let's visit this place again when u get back.
father is sick. down with flu again. he always tied with runny nose. since the bad news of mum's health, everyone in the family do get conscious abt own health. father consulted the family clinic that mum went.
now, father is lying on his mattress in the living room; behind me from wher i am at the computer. he's coughing badly. could hear the phlgem choking his breathing. he's awakes by it a few times already.
wishing everyone's is free from sickness. may all beings be well and happy.
