obsolescent me...

havent been driving much. i cant even remember when was the last time i touched the wheel.

yesterday. a public holiday that i yearn for since i started working for a mth. i wanted soo much for a good rest especially for my sore throat which was already 2weeks old. but, father commanded me to give da-sao a lift to kkh. she wanted to confirm her pregnancy.
it's was a public holiday! no specialist is working! but is it a must to go kkh for a check-up and must u pick on a public holiday? cant the family clinic at the nearby rivervale mall does the check for u? ~sigh.
still, i abide father's order. i hurriedly showered and off we go.

i'm the driver. that tense me everytime i'm on the wheel. although taking deep breaths to relax and to put on a pissed attitude is what i always do to destress myself, BUT I'M STILL FEELING TENSE.

i would already have pictured my journey before i started the engine. the expressways, my speed limit, the no. of lanes, the exits, and even the possible traffic flow.

while on the wheel, i'll keep looking at the side mirrors and rear on vehicles surrounding me. also, my eyes always glance on the speedometer. thinking am i keeping a safe distance with them/too near? am i driving too slow? did i drive out of the lane? etc etc...
~do you tense like me too?

and when heading home, i made a stupid big right turn to CTE. i was in the 2nd lane (if u count from the right). i was nervous, thinking whether i was in the correct lane for the right turn to enter CTE. i am supposed to put on my right-hand signal but i didnt. i read the blue right-hand arrow above me and white right-hand arrow on the ground.
yet, was following the fiat punto (in front of me) which was heading straight. till halfway, i jus swielled the wheel to my right and enter CTE. THEN, someone horned me, of course! it startled me. i felt awake. and accelerate to overtake that comfort taxi which i suspected he horned me.

this is the 2nd time i encountered this turn. to be exact, i exited from kkh carpark and wanting to enter CTE at bukit timah. and, i am supposed to make a big u-turn at the traffic. or should i say, read the signs and follow the flow.
well, i followed foolishly at the one in front of me and make the change.

my 1st was with mum aft speed sending da-sao to kkh, whose water bag broke at midnite. we were heading home when da-sao was awaiting in the delivery suite. i was at the same 2nd lane and being the 2nd car again.
i foolishly and blindly followed and headed straight to newton! thank god, that time i was quite familiar with the road as melvin would drive past there. i signalled and followed and finally enter CTE with a detour. then, realising that i could and should actually made a right-hand turn into CTE at that turn LOH.
that was 2yr+ ago. and i could still remember clearly.

another point, i sense that it seems to take a longer drive to reach the destination than heading home.
i took about half an hour to reach kkh and less than that to reach home. and today, i took half an hour to reach eunos and within 20min to reach home from eunos.

today, it was not a careful drive to eunos too. seeing an unknown squared object on the ground, i didnt slow down when approaching it. i went over it. eventually made a loud noise that seem to be metal-liked. SH*T~! and stupid me!

at parking, jus one try and i got into the lot perfectly at both eunos and sengkang. unlike yesterday when back at sengkang, i was shifting in and out of the lot for more than 3 times! what am i thinking?!

practice makes perfect. i agree upon that. anyway, i'm quite satisfied that i still do get opportunity to drive whether i'm willing or unwilling. and, ever since i achieved the license, i hav never drove a manual car.
1st car was honda civic. then, the nissan sunny --> melvin's mercedes --> melvin's new toyota wish --> and now, our family car, toyota wish.

i should count myself lucky or no, fortunate. as father considered it would be easier for me to start practising driving an auto car aft i achieved my license. i guessed he must be afraid that i would stall the car more often than getting it to move.
